KDF Vehicle Hits IED in Lamu, Leaves 3 Dead and 7 Injured

A deadly explosion involving an improvised explosive device (IED) has resulted in the loss of three Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldiers and left seven others injured. The incident occurred in the Badaah area along the Kiunga-Sankuri road in Lamu County.

According to Lamu East Deputy County Commissioner George Kubai, the military vehicle was returning from a mission to transport fellow soldiers to Sankuri when it encountered the explosive near Kiunga. The blast led to immediate casualties and injuries among the personnel on board.

Those wounded in the incident are currently undergoing treatment at Kiunga Hospital. In response, security forces have intensified operations in the region to trace the individuals or groups behind the attack. Residents in the area have expressed growing concern over what they describe as a persistent threat of terrorism.
