Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba Summoned Over Alleged Incitement During Ruto’s Mt Kenya Tour

Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba has been summoned to the Kiambu Police Station following allegations of inciting the public during President William Ruto’s tour of the Mt. Kenya region on Friday.

Wamuchomba, a known ally of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, is being linked to what officials describe as "negative mobilisation" that led to hostile reactions from the crowd, including chants of "Ruto must go" during the President’s visit to Kiambu.

Authorities claim the MP held a parallel gathering on the same day, which they believe contributed to the demonstrations and anti-government slogans.

In response, Wamuchomba took to her official social media platforms to confirm that she had received a phone call from the County Criminal Investigations Officer (CCIO) in Kiambu summoning her. The vocal legislator, who has consistently criticized the current administration, linked the move to her constituents' dissatisfaction with unfulfilled government promises.

"The CCIO Kiambu has through a telephone called and sermoned me; because the great people of Githunguri refused to be lured by fake promises and projects that never materialised. Arrests you can do, but that will not change the facts! No more lies! You promised, deliver!" she wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
